Celebrate Labour Day in your Community!
Monday, September 5, is Labour Day. Not just a holiday, it’s time for organized labour to be seen, heard, and united. Labour Day has been a holiday in Canada since 1894, recognizing the contributions that organized labour has made to our human rights framework and to our standards of living and working.
This year, many annual events are returning to in-person events and as you’ve probably seen in your local community, the energy is very special.
In this moment, solidarity is more crucial than ever. Labour Day events are a good place to express solidarity and working-class pride.
Please support your local labour council and other organizations in their events and share your photos with us by email or social media so that we can help show CUPW's power and pride to the world. Tag @CUPWSTTP on Facebook, and @cupw on Twitter so that we can all see each other from coast to coast.
Ask your local or district labour council what's planned for Labour Day in your community and how you can participate.
And by all means, stay safe! Comply with safety protocols, respect others, so that we can continue to gather in safety and strength.
The struggle continues!
In solidarity,
Jan Simpson
National President
